We Live In a Society
I was driving around in a busy strip mall looking for parking. Every time I thought I found a spot, I'd wait for a bit and realize they weren't going to leave. People had their engines turned on in parking spots looking like they were ready to go, but they weren't moving! I probably found 4 different spots and none of them left quickly. As I circled around more I noticed some eventually got out because I guess they finally stopped dicking around, but others were still there minutes later.
We live in a society. I know everyone's got their own stuff going on, hell we have a lot of bigger issues in our country at this moment. I'm not saying people need to go out of their way for others, but a little bit of courtesy and consideration would be nice.
It got me thinking about other small things we could be doing for each other that altogether might make life just a little bit nicer. In no particular order:
- Don't wait in your car with the engine on in a busy parking lot
- Don't sit and scroll on your phone in the car during school drop-off
- Use your car turn signals
- Return the shopping cart
- In common kitchens, don't leave dirty dishes in the sink (There's even a sign!)
- Flush your shit before leaving a bathroom stall
- Wash your hands after you shit/pee (I don't care if you didn't touch your junk, you touched the stuff that touch your junk)
- Nobody wants to hear you sing at a non sing-a-long musical
- Wait for your turn when deplaning
- Give up your train seat for others, especially if you're young
This is a live list. I will update it as I remember more.
